Welcome to The B.U.M.P.

Welcome to The B.U.M.P., I would like to thank you for taking time out to read my blog. Although my blog is new, many of the topics within has been discussed ad nauseam over the course of American history.

The B.U.M.P. is an acronym for black, united, mighty, and precocious. These words came to mind as I was thinking about who I am and what I strive to be. For those who aren't black, don't worry because this blog will help you understand the accomplishments, struggles, and insight into the mind of the largest minority group in the United States.

Have you ever wondered why the majority of players in the NFL and NBA are of black heritage? Have you ever thought about why there aren't any black owners? Do you know the reason there is a Rooney rule in place in the NFL? These questions are meant to be asked and answered. By answering these questions in my blog, I hope to help you understand the injustices in sports.

A large majority of this blog will center around black athletes from the past, present, and future. It will serve as a forum to not only to critique but to encourage the modern day athlete. Critiquing and encouraging certain athletes will highlight some of the issues that plague the society that we live in.

Issues that are considered to be the "elephant in the room" such as race, privilege, and police brutality will take the forefront on many of the issues. To first understand the black athlete, one must begin to understand the black individual.

Many people in the world watch sports for the simple reason that they are allowed to disconnect from all the issues in the society. While I agree with that sentiment, it is worthy to note that sport and race have never been as separate as most people think.

This blog will combine race, culture, and sports in a way that provides an avenue where the unheard can become heard, and the invisible to become visible. The B.U.M.P. is meant to encourage and analyze ways we all can become better contributing members of society.

Any person willing to truly understand the role of the black athlete and how injustices can affect those in prominent positions will find this blog to be insightful. In a society that prides itself on fast paced living, this blog will serve as a reminder to humanize those who are exalted and oppressed.

As a former athlete and someone who once had a dream to make it to the NFL, I completely understand the impact of those in the sports profession. With the background I have in playing football, baseball, and basketball; I intend to take you into the world of sports like you've never witnessed before. I made this blog in the hopes that you can begin to analyze how you, athletes, and people around you can make a difference.

I learned that self identification is crucial in learning to help others. Through blogs and videos, I hope that I can show you that being black is something you should be proud of. I hope to help you discover ways you can empower others to make a difference. All people must realize that love conquers all but we cant begin to love each other until we know each other.

The B.U.M.P. encourages comments and dialogue to better understand each other. I believe that society and certain media platforms segregate more than it unites. Here at The B.U.M.P. you will be able to find ways through examples and stories to impact the community you live in. I don't pretend to have all the answers and the one and only perspective that matters; But here at The B.U.M.P., a perspective is more valuable than no perspective.

Lets take the long journey together to find our place and role in this ever-changing society.
